Magnolia farms R.A. would like to introduce Julie Mccandless as our hunter/ jumper trainer. She has had a great success as a jumper rider in both children and adult divisions. Earning year end N.C.H.J.A. champion and reserve champion honors in 2000 kicked off a career that included many classic wins at prestigious venues like Blowing Rock, Lexington VA, Raleigh, Roanoke valley, and Sedgefield. Her current students are showing great progress while earning champion and reserve champion ribbons of their own. She is very proud of their accomplishments and would like to add additional students to her group.
Dennis McCandless has been involved in sports competition since he was 9 years old. Basketball, golf and football were his youth sports. He was starting center for Ragsdale high school' s 1973 state co- champion football team. There were many years spent coaching youth teams. Two of his sons played junior tennis with one going on to play 4 years of college. As a father of Julie Mccandless, horses came into the mix at an early age. He has been involved with horses for over 29 years. His father had a love for animals and along with his trailer companies, operated a cattle farm of up to 100 head of black Angus. All this mix of sports and farm experience resulted in a love for the horses, competition and the day to day care of our wonderful animals.
Magnolia Farm sits on 40 acres in the heart of Jamestown. It was built in 1866, and was placed on the historic registry on September 3rd, 1991.
